The lid of the box in the piece Keys Locks (ключи замки) is a found object, discovered while strolling in the St. Petersburg suburb Kronstadt. This former drawer front panel and its tautological label inspired the piece.
In the core of the work lies an interest in depicting the transitional nature of all things. The urban photographs that seemingly lack subject, meaning, and purpose – that do not depict anything in an essential manner – aim at underlining the all surrounding change and undefinedness.
Installation views are from gallery Kaiku, Helsinki, spring 2013. The work was also on view at Pro Arte, St. Petersburg, 2013.
Hand-bound book, foto-copier prints, silkscreen, hand-made box fitted with a found drawer panel.
